I know, I know. Mondays are usually associated with grumbles, struggles to get out of bed and long faces at work or school. Yet this happens only because of the way our lives are structured. In the Middle East, their ‘weekends’ are Fridays & Saturdays (Fridays are off days because of Friday prayers and its reverence in the Islamic calendar). As such, people in that part of the world probably grumble, struggle and pull long faces on Sunday (their first working day of the week!).

However, Mondays are blessed days in the Islamic calendar too. Abu Qatada al-Ansari narrates in Sahih MuslimKitab al-siyam, that the Prophet was asked about fasting on Mondays, and he answered: “That is the day that I was born and that is the day I received the prophecy.”

Muslims all over owe their lives, and iman, to the Prophet SAW for bringing the Message to us, and also to Allah’s Mercy and Grace. As such, Mondays should not be days that we associate with going back to work only. We should replace our bitterness and grudge against Mondays with love and gratitude towards the Prophet SAW. Instead of thinking, “Oh man, its Monday again!” we shall now attempt to wake up on Monday mornings (perhaps even for sahur) and say “Alhamdulillah its Monday!” and proceed to fill our day with increased salawat and salutations upon the Prophet SAW.

Moreover, in another narration, Abu Hurairah RA reported:

The Messenger of Allah SAW said, “Deeds of people are presented (to Allah) on Mondays and Thursdays. So I like that my actions be presented while I am fasting.”
[At-Tirmidhi].

Do we not want our deeds to be presented whilst we have gratitude & love in our hearts, as opposed to being bitter and resentful? Hence, Mondays at IslamicEvents would be days for us to celebrate!
