Recently I was invited to a Quran Reading session conducted by Mr Abu Bakar ( Man on the left in the picture ).
Initially I was skeptical about what he told me when we met me in one of my internet business classes. What he shared was that he knew of a technic call the AlBaghdadi way to learn to read the Quran which claims to help someone to be able to read the Quran in 3 months even if he is a beginner.
And so he invited me in one of the session at Woodlands.
Upon arriving at the door of the place, I heard knocking sounds in the room. There I was surprised to see young children from the age of 4 years old using a stick to hit a wooden block (as shown in the above picture) .
See this video.
And seeing the children do the knocking while learning to recite I recalled how we were taught music in Primary school. We sang songs while we clap.
So how does the knocking of the stick helps?
Scientifically I do not have a clue how it works but what I know and can share from experience and readings is that the mind works better when we are in “Action” or in Movement.
Mr Abu Bakar also shared that by hitting the sticks, the person will be more consistent in the Harakahs. So how often do we read it wrongly because we don’t have a sense of rythm? Two harakats could end up being 3 harakats and such. So through this Albaghdadi system, it disciplines the student to be consistent while reading the Quran.
This Albaghdadi system is not only for kids or teenagers, it also applies to Adults.
This Sunday, Mr Abu Bakar is conducting a preview @ Assyafaah Mosque.
