Mohamed Asysallehan is currently studying in the Islamic University of al-Madinah al-munawwarah, Saudi Arabia. These photos here were taken during their backpacking trip perfoming Hajj this year.

Yes, they went backpacking! And that’s how they do it every year. And of course, when you go backpacking, you won’t get the same luxuries a package-paying pilgrimage gets. When you go backpack, you’d just have to make do with anything you have.

How about the transportations? You have a full van? No worries! We’ll just sit on top of the van instead or on the back of a lorry. But our feet are our only transport most of the time. In addition to that, the trip was especially crowded this year, until pilgrimages had to cross the valley to get out of Arafah heading towards Muzdalifah. There’s actually a bridge there that you can cross, but it was too crowded due to the large number of pilgrimages doing hajj this year.

  1. Masyaallah.. This is what Hajj is all about; hope you guys had a Hajj Mabruk…

This is inspiring me to do the same hopefully in the near future; with my feet driving me, my heart towards God and little else.

    Insyaallah.
