The Aqiqah is to slaughter an animal; one goat for a baby girl and two goats for a baby boy and it has to be slaughtered in the seventh day if not possible, then in the fourteenth, if not, in the twenty fourth, if not, then at any time.

Narrated By Salman bin ‘Amir Ad-Dabbi : I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “‘Aqiqah is to be offered for a (newly born) boy, so slaughter (an animal) for him, and relieve him of his suffering.”

Benefits of performing the Aqiqah:

1)  By performing Aqiqah we are being thankful to Allah for bestowing you with the blessing in the form of the newborn child.

2) The child is protected from all evil.

3) The scholar Mullah Ali Qari explains by elaborating one Hadith that, who ever wish for their children to grow up and be obedient to them, then they should perform Aqiqah.
