Reported by Muhammad Faizal bin Othman from Alnitak

Salaam all,

The next solar eclipse visible in Singapore will fall on 15 January 2010. This is an annular solar eclipse. The annular eclipse will be visible in some parts of Central Africa, the Indian Ocean and China. Uganda, Kenya, the Maldives and some parts of China will witness the annular eclipse. Singapore will only see a partial eclipse, and at maximum, about 33% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon.

The circumstances of eclipse in Singapore are as follows:
3:10 p.m. Start of eclipse
4:26 p.m. Eclipse at Maximum (33% covered)
5:32 p.m. End of eclipse.

Alnitak will collaborate with Masjid Kampung Siglap to observe the eclipse and perform solat Kusuf on that day.
